A) Not sure why you took Arcane Focus for a PVP build when you could instead take 3 points into Improved Arcane Missiles and get a 60% chance to ignore spell pushback while casting them. B) You took Arcane Fortitude instead of maxing out Magic Absorption which again makes little sense to me. It increases your armor by 50% of your intellect, yet pvp mages have low intellect since the Arena gear has on average about 20 intellect per piece, sometimes less. My mage for instance would be looking at about 200 extra armor at the cost of a talent point. Simply not worth it. C) 1 point in Improved Counterspell is pointless. With Improved Counterspell you need to either sh*t or get off the pot. Either make it 100% chance to silence or don't bother at all. D) No permafrost, makes me wonder how good a pvp ice mage you are. With permafrost you can use Rank 1 icebolt with a 1 second cast time to kite enemies. Without it Rank 1 Icebolt does not slow enemies, with the talent you get 3 seconds of improved slow with only a 1 second cast. E) There's no need for full ranks of Winter's Chill. 80% chance to apply the debuff is perfectly acceptable in pvp and pve. F) Ice Floes in my opinion is a must have since it reduced the cooldown on your shield and on your cone of cold. |

| oops, screwed up, should be 2 in imp CS. The other talent point choices were personal preference. I have PvP'ed with full permafrost as well as ice floes. They were ok, and I'm sure most mages would be able to function pretty well with those talents. It really came down to what I miss more and winters chill currently ranks a bit higher in terms of priority. It sometimes comes down to your team makeup and tendancies of your opponents. When as a mage I am not usually the one being focus fired and free to cast this setup works a bit better. I don't need permafrost or ice floes to kite warriors when I have to. |
